A People & Nature Survey, released every 18 months, will improve what we know about how people access, understand, and enjoy our local natural environment. By analysing the results of each survey, any barriers to connecting with nature can be understood and acted upon.
The Nature Commission has recently released the Channel Islands first People & Nature survey, which closes on Sunday 23rd November 2025, after which we would like to be able to analyse and share the narrative of the data. Below are some ideas of what could be included in that (and we are open to more/ other ideas!):
- Count and summary statistics, with some statistical analysis where the data allows
- A high-level short, static report which can be made available on the Nature Commission website for users to look through for all the information from the survey, and which visualises the data, and which can be used for future survey years to show trends between years.
- A selection of interactive graphs which can be embedded into the Nature Commission website, showing patterns within and between demographics for individual questions as well as across multiple questions (to visualise correlation)
- Scripted code which can be used once the survey has been conducted a few times, so that changes over time can be visualised and added into the interactive visualizations and short report.
