Joining the Nature Commission Board as a new director is Alex Herschel. Alex is a Chartered Environmentalist and Director of Sea Green Solutions Limited, a Guernsey-based environmental consultancy. With over 25 years’ experience advising governments and businesses on Environmental Impact Assessment, offshore energy and port consenting and sustainable development, she now works with businesses and government to turn environmental aspirations into realistic strategy and practical outcomes. 

Alex holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology (Marine Biology), an MSc in Applied Marine Science and Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), and has worked internationally on marine biodiversity research, conservation, and community-based alternative livelihood projects. Her passion for nature and the sea began since starting sailing in childhood and continues to shape her work and life mantra - “If you want to make real change happen, then you need to go where you can make the biggest difference.”

Alex joins Jo Huxtable (Chair), Mark Pattimore, Jessi Jennings, Wayne Atkinson, Martin Belcher, Dr Amy Hall, Steve Langlois, Paul Le Poidevin, and Laura McKerrell on the Board of the Nature Commission.
